Study Hall will be held at the following times:
In order to be successful in your classes:
- Attend every class meeting, don't skip because you're feeling tired or want to go out with friends instead. It will reflect on your grades.
- Go to as many office hours with your professors as you possibly can OR stay after class and chat with them. Ask questions about assignments that you don't understand or ask feedback on your performance in class. Ask how you can improve, because there is always room for improvement.
- Participate in class discussions, the more you speak up the more likely your professor will remember you in the future, which will give them more to say when you ask for letters of recommendation.
- Prepare yourself for classes by making sure you read any material assigned.
- If there is time, do supplemental research on topics you are reviewing in class that week.
- On test dates, get on campus early just in case you forget your Scantron, Blue Book, or Pencil.
- Let friends proofread your essays beforehand. Many times it is simple mistakes that cause you points.
- Dress appropriately for classes. Don't show up in sweatpants or the clothes you would wear to the club. Professors do judge on appearance, they are human after all.
- Get to know your classmates. If you ever have an emergency and can't make it to class, these are the people you will need to turn to for notes and assignments.
- Stay Organized. Use a planner, or your phone organizer to stay on top of deadlines.
- Get plenty of rest. Don't stay up all night trying catch up on assignments. Usually, your best work is done if you are not sleep deprived.
- Ask Hermanas for advice! Especially if you know someone who has taken the professor already, or someone who is familiar with the topics being covered in class.
